It’s got to do with people’s attitudes, and sometimes makes me wonder why I am nice to people at all. If you’re already an experienced marketer, you’ll probably feel the same way as I do. I read Lynn Terry’s email marketing article after she noticed a number of people unsubscribing from mailing lists. It’s obvious that there are many people who are joining and leaving email lists, particularly those from internet marketing lists. There’s too much of the same old stuff. At the end, most internet marketers are going to forget about building a loyal following. Some even stop mailing thinking that they will not lose people.

Wrong.

You have got to ensure that you keep mailing people. Every single time you mail, you will expect an opt-out rate. But as long as you are there to maintain the relationship with your users, you will end up seeing less opt-outs.
